Marist Brothers - Sydney Province

Thursday 11: Lenten Weekday

Readings at Mass: Jer 7:23-28; Lk 11:14-23.

Intentions:

  • For lonely people in our society.
  • The Trafalgar Street Community in Lower Hutt
includes elderly Brothers still very active in various parish apostolates and younger men in more formal ministries.

Reflection: Our family spirit draws its strength and
warmth from the Lord’s love for the Brothers whom
He himself has given us. It pervades our attitudes and
behaviour to such an extent that it makes itself felt
wherever we are. This spirit finds expression and gains
strength in a special way in the love of work, which has
always been one of our characteristic features.

Life in Haití after the earthquake - Marist presence in Haiti

More than a month has passed since the terrible earthquake which struck Haití. Little by little, life is returning to normal, but the consequences of the catastrophe are very serious. What is an e-conference?

It is a live event transmitted over the internet that people can attend simply by navigating through the BBI site (see the flyer) and clicking on.  In fact, the presentation is normally available on the site afterwards if the time is not convenient.

In the BBI case, only the presenter is ‘on air’.  Some ‘audience’ questions are gathered beforehand as follow-up questions to the presentation.

Anyone can attend on a personal computer.  There are also a number of sites where a big screen is used for groups to attend together – our Lavalla centre in Brisbane is one such site.

In this case, there is a value in promoting participation among Brothers and Marist friends.
