Since the 1940s the Marist Brothers in Australia have belonged to one of two groups - the Province of Melbourne, which covered much of southern and Western Australia, and the Province of Sydney which covered much of eastern and northern Australia. The two groups of Marists are working together to start a new unified group for Australia. This will be a reality in December 2012. As part of becoming this unified group we have closed our two previous Province sites and begun a new site www.champagnat.org.au , named after the founder of the Marist Brothers - Marcellin Champagnat.
