Child Protection and Safe Schools

1. The character of Marist education is essentially based on a profound respect for each child.
2. The Marist Brothers’ priority is the conduct of safe educational institutions where the care and protection of every young person is our primary goal.
3. All Marist schools have a Safe Schools Policy which is readily available. The abuse of children is abhorrent to the Marist Brothers and is a betrayal of trust.
4. Sadly there have been failings in the past in Church Institutions. The Marist Brothers encourage any person with a claim of abuse to come forward so that we may engage in a mediation process towards healing and justice.
5. The Marist Brothers commit themselves totally to the Catholic Church’s Code of Conduct known as Integrity in Ministry and the Church’s protocol for responding to claims of abuse known as “Towards Healing”.
