Comments of participants:

  • I really appreciated the reflections around the cross. Nice time to reflect. I Also found the morning prayer with Br Tony a great new way of interpreting the Gospel reading.
  • The Easter Vigil was an amazing experience, especially as it was my first time. Processing through the darkness into the light was very symbolic of my own experience this weekend.
  • It was great to take some time out with friends and put where I'm at into perspective with where I'm at with God.
  • I became aware of God's presence in our everyday lives. I gained a deeper understanding of Easter and its significance as a Christian. Also the different ways that I can reflect as an individual and as part of a group.

Easter Celebrations

Traditionally, the Easter Celebration begins at the start of Holy Week, which begins with Palm Sunday. Holy Week flows into the three days of liturgies called the Easter Triduum which starts at the Mass of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday night. The days continue with the remembrance of the death of Jesus on Good Friday and continues until Easter Saturday when we celebrate the vigil of the resurrection of Jesus.

In the Way of the Cross, Remembering Christ's Journey on Good Friday

Stations of the Cross - Good Friday 2010

Good Friday, the day that commemorates Christ's death, is a day of prayer. Our Good Friday Liturgies remind us of our mortality and brokenness. Good Friday is a time for slowing down and considering our personal vulnerabilities and brokenness.

On Easter Saturday, we will hopefully be in touch with our story. We will be looking for a new way, a new dream, an Easter Fire. We will be looking to celebrate our lives and to leave on Easter Sunday filled with hope for the year ahead.
